Asako Ishikawa is a Los Angeles based photographer originally born in Tokyo, Japan. After earning a bachelor's degree in International Studies, she pursued a career as a global representative of Japanese culture. Life took an interesting turn when she met a group of photographers. With a newfound passion for photography, Asako soon began assisting on shoots. This led to her position as a photographer in a Tokyo advertising firm, working on numerous product, food, architecture, and portrait assignments.

After three years, Asako moved to attend to Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. While at Art Center, she studied under fashion photographer Paul Jasmin. With Jasmin's guidance, she began her career in fashion photography.  In 2005, while still attending Art Center, Asako won the Behind the Lens Contest sponsored by Guess? and W magazine, and earned the privilege of shooting the Guess 2005 Fall campaign. Asako graduated with distinction from Art Center, receiving her second bachelor's degree in the field of photography.
